Audience Research

For our thriller we need a specific audience to target, we decided that we would be best targeting our thriller to an audience of our age, this is because if we are the same age as the audience we are more likely to know what they want to see in a thriller, meaning we are able to ensure it suits this audience. We decided in the end that our thriller would have a rating of 15, this means we are able to explore mature ideas and thriller conventions without it being too violent and explicit. To find out what our audience wants to see in a thriller I have interviewed some of our target audience, here are the questions I asked:

• what is the main thing you want to see in a thriller?
• would you rather that conventions are challenged or a thriller be stereotypical, for example, have a girl victim and a male villain.
