Possible locations.
We went out to two locations and took pictures of the possible locations
where we could film. We took the photos at the time we were thinking of filming
our video, e.g. 4/5 pm. However we may have to rethink this decision due to the
lack of lighting, although this may create a good effect it could result in our
film being bad quality. I definitely think that the Clay cross location pictures
are too dark, which will affect the quality of our film.

Friends, Lucy and Charlotte are walking down a street lit road, casually talking.
Charlotte
Where’s that concert you’re going to?
Lucy
O2 Academy
Charlotte
I was thinking about coming, what date is it?
Lucy
6th February, on Saturday. You coming?
Charlotte
Ohh no, is that this Saturday?
Lucy
Yeah, why?
Charlotte
I’ve got work.
Lucy
Ohh for god’s sake. Anyway, see you later! Facetime me when you’re home.
Charlotte
See you.
Charlotte walks towards the entrance of the woods. She opens the gate, and heads through the dark woods alone. She gets out her phone from her pocket, scrolling social media.
As she walks along the path she hears a crunch of leaves being stood on behind her. She suddenly turns around to see who’s there. No one is to be seen. She begins to pick up the pace, and keeps looking behind her to check if anyone’s there.
Antagonist POV:
He spies on the girl through the bushes, following her tracks. He is quiet and calm, as represented in his slow breathing/heart rate in contrast to Charlotte’s.
She sees a black silhouette in the distance, stumbling on her feet she runs faster only to turn back around and the figure has disappeared. Her breathing rate picks up and she panics. She runs to the gate, her shaking hands struggle to grasp the latch in time. She hears the breathing behind her, it’s too late. A hand grabs her mouth.
*Muffled scream from Charlotte* and she is suddenly plunged into darkness and a black bag is carelessly shoved over her head.

Costume
For our thriller we are planning to use three different outfits to which have different meanings.
The protagonist is going to be wearing an oversize black coat, this ensure that there identity is withheld from the viewer making it difficult to identify if it is a women or a man. The website 'Tvtropes.com' says that black is perhaps the most typical color for evil, or at least the antagonists, to wear. Thus in many stories, the villains will wear largely black clothing most of the time, in contrast to the colors worn by neutral and good characters (which will be at least lighter). This is because in many cultures, black is the color of darkness and death.
Both of the young girls in our thriller will be wearing either much lighter colours or will be wearing a range of different colours, we are planning to ensure that their outfits represent a young lower class generation.

How to add text during post production!
Although we have learnt briefly how to add text on Premier Pro during our preliminary task, we wanted to take it to the next step and ensure that we made every part of the production as good as it could be. For this reason we sat down in our group and watched some YouTube videos on how to add text effectively. This made us a bit more confident when it comes to adding text and will ensure we don't waste as much time trying to figure out how to do it properly.

Textual Analysis on insidious film opening
Insidious (2010)
Insidious is a horror film from the makers of Paranormal Activity and Saw. In this film the parents take drastic measures when it seems their new home is haunted and their comatose son is possessed by a malevolent entity.
release date: April 29, 2011
release date: April 29, 2011
Director: James Wan
bbfc rating: 15
Mise- en- Scene

Although in the opening to Insidious you don't see any people other than ghostly figures and shadows, when you do see the women up close holding the candle she is wearing dark clothing and looks as if her outfit consists of a dark veil and old fashioned clothing. This suggests that she is evil and a bad character in the movie. Throughout the opening the lighting is very dark making it difficult to see what is happening keeping the viewer on the edge of their seats due to it being unclear because you're unable to see. Also, there are only certain parts of he room shown clearly with the rest of the shots black, this shows the importance of the parts shown. When you see the women's face up close she is quite wrinkly and pale showing she is old, as well as making her look more scary and strange. Throughout the opening scene the large clock is shown frequently, this could suggest that it has a significant part in the rest of the movie.
Editing
Every shot in the opening sequence fades out one shot and into another meaning it is on going also making it look mysterious. The majority of the opening is in black and white which suggests unease. Also, the large amount of the colour black has connotations of evil, and when theirs footage of the child laid in bed there is colour in his room, e.g. on his bed sheets and items around the rooms such as the larva lamp, this suggests that there's a clash of good and evil throughout the movie.
Sound
One way to keep the audience on the edge on their seats is via sound, when the camera approaches the ghostly face there is silence. When the camera gets to the face there is high pitch music used, this will make the viewer jump and is an alternative way instead of making the ghostly figure jump out.
Camera
In the opening the first camera shot used is an establishing shot, this sets the scene for the viewer and shows them where they are. Also the Dutch on the clock gives off a sense of confusion.

Props
Me and my group have decided that we aren't going to use many props in our thriller opening because we are planning to make our thriller effective in post production, also not using props like weapons means that the viewer can make their own decision to what happened to the victim.
The props that we are planing to use in our thriller opening are:
The victim (Katie) will use a mobile phone to attempt to get help, this suggests that although she is connected to other via her phone, it wont save here from the situation.
Another prop that we are planning to use is a back bin bag, we are using this to cover the camera at the end of the production.
